This site is made and run by me, Kieron Oates. I don't use cookies, there are no accounts, and what you type is searched for on your own device. It never reaches me or anyone else.
What happens to what you type
Every page in the library is worked out by arithmetic, and that arithmetic runs in your browser. When you search, your words are turned into a place on a shelf right there on your device. Nothing is sent to a server, and nothing is saved.
The address bar changes as you go, so you can share where you are. Your words sit in the part of the address after the #, which browsers keep to themselves and never send to a web server. If you share a link, whoever opens it can read the words in it, so share it the way you would share the words themselves.
Cookies and storage
The site sets no cookies and keeps nothing in your browser's storage. Close the tab and nothing of your visit stays behind, except whatever links you chose to share.
Sound
Sound is off until you turn it on. The sounds are files served from this site, released into the public domain (CC0) by their makers. The site never asks for your microphone or anything else on your device.
Hosting and visit counts
The site is served by Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare handles the requests your browser makes to load it, under its own privacy policy.
To see how many people visit, I use Cloudflare Web Analytics. It doesn't set cookies and doesn't follow you from one site to another. It tells me things like how many times a page was opened and which country visits came from, never who you are.
No accounts, no emails
There is nothing to sign up for, so I hold no name, email address or password of yours, and there is no information about you for me to hand over, sell or delete.
Changes and questions
If any of this changes, I'll update this page and the date at the top. If you have a question about it, you can find me on GitHub.
